ViaSense The essence of vision

The fundamental technical roadblock holding several industries back from exploiting video & image communications to its fullest is that there has been no accurate metric of perceptual distortion.

Legacy image processing technology is based on a collection of disjointed algorithms and ad hoc assumptions, which have not been sufficient to accurately optimize image processing for the conflicting demands of both hardware and human perception simultaneously.

In short, technology has not been able to create an accurate proxy for the human experience from which a unified set of tools, metrics, components and products could be derived. The results are products and services that cost more and perform more poorly than they should.

ViaSense technology provides the key missing element that companies are looking for as they focus on the efficiency, cost, and quality of the systems used to capture, process, store and transmit digital images and video.

ViaSense has developed IPeG - the Integrated Perceptual Guide - a patented technology for efficiently presenting high-quality visual information in environments ranging from narrowband to broadcast-quality bandwidths, both wired and wireless.

IPeG mirrors the way in which the retina presents prioritized visual signals to the rest of the brain and was derived by neurobiologists and physicists at the University of California at Berkeley. The foundation algorithms are compact, elegant and very efficient - as might be expected from a system perfected over millions of years of evolution.

We have a white paper available that goes into more details on the science behind IPeG. Please contact us if you would like more information.
