VIASENSE, INC ANNOUNCES THE AVAILABILITY
OF THE FIRST BIOLOGICALLY ACCURATE, PERCEPTUALLY GUIDED IMAGE
OPTIMIZATION SOLUTION

Print Optimizer now available for printer, fax, copy, and
scanner devices
Berkeley, Calif. - 03-Mar-04 – ViaSense, Inc, a developer
of next-generation imaging technology and applications for
the digital imaging market today announced the general availability
of its IPeG Print Optimizer application. The IPeG Print Optimizer
is a fully automated, biologically accurate, perceptually
guided print optimization product that improves the sharpness,
contrast, and apparent resolution of still images utilizing
techniques derived from discovering the way nature processes
visual information in the retina. The result is that the viewer
experiences maximum visual quality, crispness, and resolution
automatically, every time. The
IPeG Print Optimizer is a software application that works
behind the scenes in conjunction with standard print drivers
and engines and works with virtually any input/output device
combination including desktop and enterprise printers, photo
printers, multifunction devices, fax machines, and scanners.
The IPeG Print Optimizer
simulates the interaction between the light reflected from
a printed page and the optics and neurons of a viewer's eyes
and automatically adapts on-the-fly to both the printed content
and the viewer’s experience of that content without
affecting the source image integrity. The IPeG Print Optimizer
accounts for the resolution of the device, the quality of
the paper, the quality of the ink, and the likely viewing
conditions to predict where a person's eye will tend to track
and to assess a person’s sensitivity to the particular
visual details. As such, the IPeG Print Optimizer can adapt
and be fine-tuned for a wide range of input/output types while
still utilizing industry standard image formats and protocols.
The result is that the viewer experiences maximum visual quality,
crispness, and resolution automatically, every time.

a systematic and scientific application of bio-engineering
and wet-biology methods, " says Sean McCarthy, CEO of

design principles of vision into a blueprint for perceptually-guided
imaging technology. Initial industry feedback has been very
positive."

addition to being available for specialized processors, the
IPeG Print Optimizer is available as a software application
that can become part of the advanced software configuration
options for standard print drivers and engines. A version
for embedded applications is in development.
